Commercially Pure Titanium

Commercially Pure Titanium

Commercially pure titanium is unalloyed titanium containing a minimum of 99% titanium. It usually has four distinct grades, specifically Titanium Grade 1, Grade 2, Grade 3 and Grade 4. The chemical composition of four commercial pure titanium varies by less than 1%, but each grades have different properties about the corrosion resistance, formability, ductility and strength. Grade 1 has the highest corrosion resistance, formability and lowest strength and is the most ductile; Grade 2 is slightly stronger than grade 1 but with similar corrosion resistance; Grade 3 offers slightly stronger than grade 2; and Grade 4 offers the highest strength and moderate formability. Commercially pure titanium has extensive uses in architecture, automotive, chemical processing, desalination, marine, medical (surgical equipment and human implants ), and aerospace. It should be noted that titanium Grade 7 and titanium Grade 12 contain only trace amounts of alloying metals, so they are sometimes classified as commercially pure titanium.
