Chromium is a white, hard, lustrous and brittle metal that is extremely resistant to ordinary corrosive agents. Chromium is mined as chromite (FeCr2O4) ore. Commercially, chromium is produced from chromite using silicothermic or aluminothermic reactions. Roasting and leaching processes are also used. It does not tarnish in air, when heated it is heated and forms the green chromic oxide. Chromium is unstable in oxygen, and it immediately produces a thin oxide layer that is impermeable to oxygen and protects the metal below. In addition, chromium is an essential mineral that the body needs in trace amounts. It is naturally present in a wide variety of foods, though only in small amounts, and is also available as a supplement. Chromium enhances the action of the hormone insulin.

Alfa Chemistry provides high-quality chromium and chromium-based alloys including chromium-aluminum (Cr-Al)alloys, chromium-nickel (Cr-Ni) alloys, and chromium-titanium (Cr-Ti) alloys at a competitive price. We can also customize various shapes of chromium products according to your requirements or drawings.

Pure Chromium Products

Chromium is mainly used in alloys such as stainless steel, in Chromium plating and in metal ceramics. Chromium is used in metallurgy to impart corrosion resistance and a shiny finish; as dyes and paints, its salts color glass an emerald green and it is used to produce synthetic rubies; as a catalyst in dyeing and in the tanning of leather; to make molds for the firing of bricks.

Chromium-based Alloys

Chromium-based alloys are commonly made by melting or powder metallurgy. In the alloying process chromium needs to be protected by inert gas during smelting due to its high vapor pressure. Generally, chromium-based alloy is a kind of high melting point alloy, and it has good corrosion resistance to seawater and good working performance under high sulfur condition.

Chromium-based alloys we can supply include chromium-aluminum (Cr-Al)alloys, chromium-nickel (Cr-Ni) alloys, and chromium-titanium (Cr-Ti) alloys.
