Palladium is a lustrous silver-white metal. It is the least dense and has the lowest melting point of the platinum group metals. It has a face-centered cubic crystalline structure, and at ordinary temperatures it is strongly resistant to corrosion in air and to the action of acids.  It is attacked by hot acids, and it dissolves in aqua regia. Palladium has the uncommon ability to absorb up to 900 times its own volume of hydrogen at room temperatures. When palladium has absorbed large amounts of hydrogen, it can swell up, like a sponge full of water.

Alfa Chemistry provides high-quality precious metals at a competitive price. Palladium products we can supply are in the shapes of foil, pellet, powder, rod, sputtering target disc, tube, wire, etc. We can also customize various shapes of Palladium products according to your requirements or drawings.

Applications

Palladium has a wide variety of application in diverse fields. Few of the applications of Palladium are listed below:

  • Most palladium is used in catalytic converters for cars.
  • Palladium can be used in jewelry and some dental fillings and crowns.
  • Palladium is always used in alloys. For instance, it may be alloyed with platinum to be used in watch bearings, springs, and balance wheels and also for mirrors in scientific instruments.
  • Other applications of palladium include as electrodes in multi-layer ceramic capacitors, in connector platings in consumer electronics, in the production of surgical instruments and electrical contacts.
