Other Magnesium Alloys
Magnesium alloys are promising structural materials for the automotive, aerospace and electronic industries. Particularly in automotive applications, a magnesium engine block can significantly reduce the weight of an automobile and therefore its fuel consumption and environmental impact. In addition to AZ series, HM series, ZK series and ZE (and EZ) series magnesium alloys, we can provide other magnesium alloys including:
- HK31A — a magnesium-thorium-zirconium (Mg-Th-Zr) wrought alloy containing about 3 wt.% Th and 1 wt.% Zr. It can be used in several high-volume part manufacturing applications.
- WE43B — a magnesium-yttrium-rare earth metal (Mg-Y-Zr) alloy containing about 4 wt.% Y and 3 wt.% rare earth metal alloys. It maintains good mechanical properties at elevated temperatures, without the use of either silver or thorium.
- EV31A — a magnesium-based sandcasting alloy containing neodymium, gadolinium, and zinc. It provide superior mechanical properties and improved corrosion resistance together with good castability.
