Beta and Near-Beta Titanium Alloys

Beta and Near-Beta Titanium Alloys

Beta and near-beta titanium alloys, also known as "metastable titanium alloys" contain sufficient beta stabilisers such as molybdenum, silicon and vanadium. These stabilisers can retain the beta phase when the metal is cooled quickly from the transus temperature. Mechanical properties, processing, and inexpensive fabricated are the advantages of beta and near-beta titanium alloys when compared to other titanium alloys. For examples, the yield strength of most beta and near-beta titanium alloys lies between 1150 and 1300 Mpa while only 750 and 1000 Mpa for alpha titanium alloys. They are also heat treatable to high strengths and weldable, but have low creep resistance at high temperatures. These alloys are an important class of alloys that have found use in demanding applications such as aircraft structures and engines, high-strength fasteners, and orthopedic and orthodontic implants.

As one of the leading suppliers of metals and alloys, Alfa Chemistry offers the most comprehensive beta and near-beta titanium alloys.
