Tungsten-Copper Alloys
Description
Tungsten-Copper alloys are materials composed of tungsten and copper, which are readily machinable and known for good thermal and electrical conductivity, low thermal expansion, being non-magnetic, good performance under vacuum, and resistance to erosion from arcing. At very high temperatures, such as above 3000℃, the copper in the alloy is liquefied and evaporated, absorbing a large amount of heat, and reducing the surface temperature of the material.
Tungsten-copper has many applications, for example, i) used in aerospace and aviation as missiles, rocket engine nozzles, gas rudders, air rudders, and nose cones in where high-temperature resistance is required; ii) used in high-voltage switch circuit breaker, high-voltage vacuum load switch and lightning arrester; iii) used in electric spark electrodes, resistance welding electrodes, and high-voltage discharge tube electrodes; and iv) used in semiconductor materials.
Alfa Chemistry offers a variety of tungsten-copper alloys available in shapes of plate, rod, tube and foil. We also have extensive machining capabilities to provide weights in standard sizes or custom products finished to your required specifications.
