Titanium Grade 4

UNS R50700

Description

Grade 4
TITANIUM ALLOY

Titanium Grade 4 with high oxygen content provides the highest strength of the commercially pure titanium grade but possesses lower toughness than Titanium Grade 1, Grade 2 and Grade 3. The level of strength is comparable to that of classic stainless steels while offering a high strength-to-weight ratio and superior corrosion resistance. For corrosion resistance, it offers high corrosion resistance in oxidising, neutral and mildly reducing media, including chlorides. However, higher level of oxygen decreases its resistance to stress corrosion cracking. The material also shows good formability and good weldability. Titanium Grade 4 is used almost exclusively for airframe, aircraft engine parts, marine, surgical implants, hydraulic tubing.
