Titanium Grade 7

UNS R52400

Description

Grade 7
TITANIUM ALLOY

Titanium Grade 7 is an titanium alloy made by adding 0.12 to 0.25% of the precious metal palladium to commercial pure Titanium Grade 2. Thus, it has similar physical and mechanical properties to Titanium Grade 2. However, due to the addition of palladium, Titanium Grade 7 offers improved corrosion resistance to general and localized crevice corrosion in a wide range of reducing acid environments, including chloride-containing media, and where low pH and high temperatures are prevalent. It is even the most corrosion resistance of all titanium alloys. In addition, it has excellent welding and fabrication. Excellent corrosion resistance makes it widely used in chemical industry, especially in petrochemical industry.

Additional Properties

Forming: May be hot or cold formed using hydropress, power brake, stretch or drop hammer methods. Similar in characteristics to 300 series stainless steels.
Welding: Rated as "good" in terms of weldability.
Hot Working: Hot forming will reduce both the springback and required forming forces, and will increase the overall ductility of the material.
Cold Working: The cold work characteristics of this material is similar to that of a moderately tempered austenitic stainless steel. In multiple cold forming operations, intermediate stress relief is recommended to prevent tearing or other material damage. Post-work annealing is required to reattain optimum performance characteristics.
