Titanium Grade 2

UNS R50400

Description

Grade 2
TITANIUM ALLOY

Titanium Grade 2, a commercially pure titanium grade, has an alpha crystalline structure. It is the most frequently employed unalloyed titanium grade and slightly stronger than Titanium Grade 1. The material has a low weight ratio, moderate strength, good ductility and weldability, good toughness, excellent formability and outstanding corrosion resistance. Thereinto, good weldability and superior corrosion resistance are its distinguishing characteristics. Its excellent resistance can resist corrosion from mildly reducing to highly oxidizing media with or without chlorides, and when compared with Grade 1, it has equal corrosion resistant in most applications. The material can be used for the parts where requiring strength up to 400 °F and oxidation resistance to 600 °F and can also be used in oil & gas industry, chemical industry, marine industry, etc.

Additional Properties

Corrosion Resistance: This material has excellent corrosion resistance in oxidising media, alkali media, organic acids and compounds, aqueous salt solutions and hot gases. And it has useful corrosion resistance in nitric acids, mild reducing acids and wet chlorine or bromine gas. In addition, Titanium Grade 2 has outstanding resistance in seawater applications.
Heat Treatment: Titanium Grade 2 can only be hardened by cold work.
Welding: For best results refer to: SSINA's "Welding of Stainless Steels and Other Joining Methods".
