Alloy 2304 Stainless Steel

UNS S32304

Description

2304
STAINLESS STEEL

Alloy 2304 is a two-phase stainless steel that contain 23% chromium, 4% nickel and no molybdenum, with a microstructure of 40%-50% ferrite and 50%-60% austenite. It has similar corrosion resistance to 316L stainless steel. In addition, its mechanical properties, i.e., yield strength, are twice that of the 304L/316L stainless steel. Alloy 2304 stainless steel also has good weldability without heat treatment, which is suitable to adopt SMAW,GTAW,GMAW and SAW method for welding. When GTAW welding is used, wire filling is required, and pure argon or Ar+2%N2 protective gas should be used. As a stainless steel with high strength and low price, Alloy 2304 can replace 304L, 316L and other commonly used austenitic stainless steel to a certain extent.
