Alloy 20 Stainless Steel

UNS N08020

Description

20
STAINLESS STEEL

Alloy 20 is an austenitic stainless steel containing less than 50% iron developed for applications involving sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, nitric acid and chloride environments. Typically, Alloy 20 is ideal for use in environments prone to chloride stress cracking, pitting and crevice corrosion. Alloy 20 can be formed by hot or cold working. The hot forging material is heated to 2100 °F to 2250 °F, and the temperature is carefully controlled to ensure that the temperature does not fall below 1800 °F before forging. After hot working, the material is heated to 1725 °F to 1850 °F for annealing for 30 minutes per inch, and then water quenched.
