A286 Stainless Steel
UNS S66286
Description
A286 stainless steel is an austenitic precipitation-hardened stainless steel with high strength and corrosion resistance at high temperatures, thus it is considered to be an iron based superalloy. A286 stainless steel can be used in the fields of aerospace, mechanical systems, power stations and building components. As these applications require the alloy with high strength, corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance, A286 stainless steel is well suited for these applications. The alloy is also used for low temperature applications requiring a ductile, non-magnetic high strength material at temperatures ranging from above room temperature down to at least -320 °F (-196 °C). Although A286 alloy is harder than other stainless steels, it can be cold drawn and formed.
