Description
Titanium Grade 6 (Ti-5Al-2.5Sn) is a non-heat treatable alpha titanium alloys, which improves high temperature strength compared to unalloyed titanium. It possesses good weldability, high service temperature of 480 °C, medium strength and excellent fabricability. It also shows stability and oxidation resistance at elevated temperatures (600-1000 °F), microstructure stability, and high creep (plastic-like strain over long periods of time, usually caused by extreme temperatures) resistance. However, the alloy is a more difficult to forge with a narrow forgeability range and greater yield loss. Titanium Grade 6 is mostly used in aircraft and airframe applications.
