Titanium Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V)

UNS R56400

Description

Grade 5
TITANIUM ALLOY

Titanium Grade 5, also known as Ti-6Al-4V, is classified as alpha-beta titanium alloy and the workhorse alloy of the titanium industry. More than 50% of titanium products worldwide are made from this alloy, while this alloy was originally developed for light-weight and high strength applications in the aerospace market. Titanium Grade 5 is significantly stronger than other commercially pure titanium whilst still retaining the same stiffness and thermal properties (excluding thermal conductivity). It also has the combination of low weight, excellent corrosion resistance, good weldability and fabricability. And it is easy to forge, form and weld. Due to these properties, apart from aerospace applications, the alloy is now used in numerous applications, including areas of sports, marine technology and medical technology. And Titanium Grade 5 is suitable for use at temperatures up to 400 °C.
