Description
Titanium Grade 23 (Ti-6Al-4V ELI) is an alpha-beta alloy, which is the extra low interstitial (ELI) version of Ti-6Al-4V with containing reduced levels of oxygen, nitrogen, carbon, and iron. The version provides superior damage tolerance (fracture toughness, fatigue crack growth rate) and better mechanical properties at cryogenic temperatures compared to standard grade Ti-6Al-4V. These characterizes combined with its excellent biocompatibility and low modulus make Titanium Grade 23 (Ti-6Al-4V ELI) widely used in medical and dental applications. In addition, Titanium Grade 23 exhibits improved ductility, good corrosion resistance and strength, in which, the ductility (elasticity, formability) will improve at low temperatures. Thus, Ti-6Al4V-ELI is also used in cryogenic applications (cooling and freezing applications).
