Titanium Grade 21S

UNS R58210

Description

Grade 21S
TITANIUM ALLOY

Titanium Grade 21S is a metastable beta titanium alloy. Its composition is Ti-15Mo-2.7Nb-3Al-0.2Si, designed to improve corrosion resistance by molybdenum and niobium working together. The alloy provides high strength, good formability and weldability, excellent oxidation resistance and creep strength, and substantial strength to weight ratios. In addition, because it can be rolled to a foil, is compatible with most fibers, and is thermally stable to 816 °C, making it suitable for metal matrix compositions. Moreover, it can greatly resist aircraft hydraulic fluid, making it a good choice for the aerospace industry. Thus, Titanium Grade 21S was developed as an oxidation-resistant aerospace material and as a matrix for metal matrix composites.
