Description
Ti-8Al-1Mo-1V (Titanium 8-1-1) is a near alpha alloy with the alloying element of Al, Mo, V, and Fe, in which Al is the alpha stabilizer and the Mo, V, and Fe result in a small amount of beta formation. The alloy has the characteristics of low density, high modulus, high stiffness/density ratio, moderate to high strength, good elevated temperature tensile properties and excellent creep resistance (for operating temperatures up to 455 °C). Titanium 8-1-1 may be either hot or cold-formed. Popular methods include hydro-press, stretch or drop-hammer. It is primarily used in aircraft engine applications.

Additional Properties
Machinability: Although tough, Ti-8Al-1Mo-1V alloy can be machined using the right quantity of coolant flow, slow speeds and high feed rates.
Forming: Ti-8Al-1Mo-1V alloy can be hot or cold formed using hydropress, stretch or drop-hammer methods.
Welding: Weldability of grade Ti-8Al-1Mo-1V alloy is rated as fair.
