Ti-6Al-2Sn-4Zr-6Mo

UNS R56260

Description

6246
TITANIUM ALLOY

Ti-6Al-2Sn-4Zr-6Mo, also known as Ti 6-2-4-6, is a "rich" alpha-beta titanium alloy. The alloy is a stronger derivative of Ti-6Al-2Sn-4Zr-2Mo alloy offering higher strength and elevated temperature properties up to 450 °C, which was designed primarily for high temperature applications requiring higher strength than alloy 6-2-4-2 at similar temperatures. However, the materials is more difficult to fabricate than the Ti-6Al-2Sn-4Zr-2Mo alloy. Ti 6-2-4-6 is heat treatable and deep hardenable but limited weldability. As with other titanium alloys, Ti 6-2-4-6 demonstrates excellent corrosion resistance due to the existence of the oxidation layer formed upon exposure to oxygen. In addition, it has a low cycle fatigue and a good ductility. The alloy commonly uses in aircraft applications and in the oil and gas industry.
