Description
Ti-5Al-2.5Sn ELI is an alpha titanium alloy with non-heat treatable. The alloy has the characteristics of intermediate strength, excellent weld fabricability, superior oxidation resistance, excellent hot forming properties and microstructure stability. It also has improved high-temperature strength compared to unalloyed titanium. The most noteworthy feature of this alloy is that it shows the outstanding specific strength and toughness at cryogenic temperature. Thus, it most common use is for cryogenic applications. As now, the Ti-5Al-2.5Sn ELI titanium alloy is now widely used as fuel turbo pump impeller and gas cylinder in the liquid-fuel engine system of the space vehicles at 20 K.
