Description
Niobium is one of the four major refractory elements used in superalloys along with molybdenum, tungsten and tantalum. It has already been stated that niobium has the potential to strengthen a nickel alloy by solid solution strengthening, carbide formation and by coherent precipitation hardening phase formation. Niobium-nickel alloys are thermal resistant and anti-corrosive, and they can be used as alloy additives, superconducting materials and the raw material for electronic beam melting.
