7475
UNS A97475
Description
Aluminum alloy 7475 is derived from aluminum alloy 7075 to increase toughness (approximately 40% higher than alloy 7075). Although overall properties are similar to 7075, 7475 aluminum alloy offers better corrosion resistance and fatigue characteristics. This alloy offers several metalworking options that include machining, forming, and heat treating. For machining, it has good machining characteristics in the annealed condition and oil base lubricants can be used in this process. For forming, the alloy can be formed using conventional methods and easily formed in the annealed condition than in the heat treated condition. 7475 can be used in shell casings, aircrafts, and many other structures.
