7020
UNS A97020
Description
Aluminum alloy 7020 is a heat treatable alloy with zinc added as the main alloying element that age hardens naturally and therefore will recover properties in a heat affected zone after welding. The alloy has characteristics of good weldability, average mechanical strength, good balance between toughness and stress corrosion resistance. When welding, aesthetic anodizing and brazing or soldering is not suitable; however protective anodizing can be performed if required. In addition, machining of 7020 alloy is good, but formability is relatively low which limits the complexity of the shapes that can be extruded.
