Description
Aluminum alloy 6082 is medium strength alloy with the main alloying elements of magnesium, manganese and silicon. These alloying elements make it with enhanced mechanical properties and excellent corrosion resistance whilst retaining a good machinability and weldability. Moreover, the silicon and manganese elements make it own the highest strength of the 6000 series alloy. Due to the higher strength of alloy 6082, it has replaced alloy 6061 in many applications. However, the extruded finish is not as smooth and therefore not as aesthetically pleasing as other alloys in the 6000 series. It is mainly used in transportation and structural engineering.
