Description

5454
ALUMINUM ALLOY

Aluminum alloy 5454 is a non-heat treatable alloy of aluminum and magnesium. It has a moderate strength and the strength may be improved by cold working. Similar to alloy 5754, it can obtain good strength in the temperature range of 65 °C to 170 °C. Like other aluminum-magnesium alloys, 5454 has very good corrosion resistance, in particular to seawater and general environmental conditions. In addition, it has a high fatigue strength. Like 5154, 5454 aluminum is commonly used in welded structures such as pressure vessels and ships.
