3003
UNS A93003
Description
Aluminum alloy 3003, a typical wrought aluminum-manganese alloy, is a non-heat-treatable alloy. 3003 has excellent mechanical properties, medium strength, and superior resistance to atmospheric corrosion, good formability and weldability, in which the mechanical properties are higher than 1000 series aluminum alloys and are 20% stronger than 1100 aluminum alloy. It can be cold worked (but not, unlike some other types of aluminum alloys, heat-treated) to produce tempers with a higher strength but a lower ductility. Typical application is general sheet metal work requiring greater strength than is provided by 1000 series aluminum alloys.
