2014A
Description
2014A is a very high strength aluminum alloy with addition of 4-5% copper which can retain its strength even after heat treatment. Another feature of this alloy is that it has superior machinability. 2014A is generally less resistant to atmospheric attack, especially in the marine environment. To overcome the problem, 2014A can be hard or protective anodized, or coated with Lanolin based protective oil if storage. Typically, 2014A aluminum alloy is stocked in the T651 condition and produced in extruded bar or profile form. 2014A is commonly used in many aerospace structural applications due to high strength.
