Alloy K500

UNS N05500

Description

K500
NICKEL ALLOY

Alloy K500 is precipitation hardened nickel-copper alloy with properties of high strength and hardness, as well as excellent resistance to many corrosive environments (such as seawater, oil & gas environments and a wide variety of industrial media). The corrosion resistance of Alloy K500 is similar to that of Alloy 400, but it provides greater strength and hardness than Alloy 400. The increased hardness is achieved by the additions of aluminum and titanium and by subsequent heat treating. The alloy also has excellent mechanical properties ranging from sub-zero temperatures up to around 480 °C, possesses low permeability, and is non-magnetic to temperatures as low as minus 101 °C. Thus, the alloy is suitable for many cryogenic applications.
