Alloy 601

UNS N06601

Description

601
NICKEL ALLOY

Alloy 601 is a nickel-chromium alloy designed for use in the industries where require resistance to heat and corrosion. Compared to Alloy 600, Alloy 601 has increased chromium as well as the addition of aluminum which develops a tightly adherent scale at elevated temperatures which gives the alloy outstanding oxidation resistance up to 1204 °C. The alloy also has good resistance to aqueous corrosion, has high mechanical strength, and is readily formed, machined and welded. Due to these positive properties, Alloy 601 finds use in harsh environments in different industries such as thermal processing, chemical processing, pollution control, aerospace, and power generation. However, it is not suggested for use in strongly reducing, sulfur bearing environments.
