Alloy 405

UNS N04405

Description

405
NICKEL ALLOY

Alloy 405 is a nickel-copper-alloy, which is an enhanced machining version of Alloy 400 by addition of more sulfur. Similar to Alloy 400, it has excellent corrosion resistance in a range of media including seawater, hydrofluoric acid, sulphuric acid and alkalis. Its physical properties are also similar to Alloy 400 and it has slightly magnetic at room temperature. The enhanced machinability makes it suitable for automatic screw machine stock, as well as valve parts and fasteners in corrosive marine and seawater applications. Generally, it is not recommended for other applications.
