AISI 12L14
Description
AISI 12L14 steel is a resulfurized, rephosphorized and lead containing free-machining low-carbon steel, which offers superior workability and machinability. The superior machinability is obtained by added lead. That is, it can be bent, riveted, or crimped. However, this extra ductility and machinability do mean that 12L14 is slightly weaker than comparable carbon steel alloys. In addition, thanks to its low carbon content, this steel is also resistant to corrosion and has good heat resistance properties. AISI 12L14 may be the first choice, if you're looking for an alloy that can be easily shaped into the desired shape and that can withstand high temperatures without losing its strength.
