416 Stainless Steel
UNS S41600
Description
416 stainless steel is a kind of martensitic free processing grade stainless steel, which belongs to the stainless steel with good cutting performance. It has better processing characteristics than austenitic stainless steel and can be hardened by heat treatment to increase its strength and hardness. 416 stainless steel is suitable for use in high-temperature conditions, but is not suitable for exposure to marine or any chlorides due to the high content of sulfur. Although 416 stainless steels are not as resistant as austenitic or ferritic stainless, it still demonstrates good corrosion and oxidation resistance plus high strength in the hardened and tempered condition. Thus, 416 stainless steel is mainly used in the production of solenoid valves, micro motors and electrical components.
