309 Stainless Steel

UNS S30908

Description

309
STAINLESS STEEL

309 stainless steel is austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steels that is often used for higher temperature applications. Due to its high chromium and nickel content, 309 stainless steel is highly corrosion resistant, has outstanding resistance to oxidation, and excellent heat resistance while providing good strength at room and elevated temperatures. The alloy possesses high tensile and creep strength at elevated temperatures. Strength at elevated temperatures is similar to that of 18-8 stainless steels. It is more resistant to marine atmospheres than alloy 304.
