303 Stainless Steel
UNS S30300
Description
Alloy 303 is a non-magnetic, austenitic, free-machining stainless steel specifically designed to improve machinability while maintaining good mechanical and corrosion resistance. Due to the presence of sulfur in the steel composition, alloy 303 is the most readily machineable austenitic stainless steel. However, the addition of sulfur will negatively affect the corrosion resistance of 303 stainless steel, making its corrosion resistance lower than 304 stainless steel. The alloy is non-magnetic in annealed state, but it may become slightly magnetic due to cold working.
