254 SMO® Alloy
UNS S31254
Description
254 SMO® alloy is a very high end, molybdenum and nitrogen alloyed super austenitic stainless steel with low carbon content, which has been developed for use in halide containing environments such as seawater. Because of its high molybdenum content, it has very high point corrosion resistance and crevice corrosion resistance. In addition, it also has a good uniform corrosion resistance. 254 SMO® alloy is substantially stronger than the common austenitic grades, with strength nearly twice that of 300 series stainless steel. It is also characterized by high ductility and impact strength.
